About the East Coast Sail Trust

The East Coast Sail Trust is a registered charity (no.263100) and as such has to comply with strict conditions as laid down by the Charity Commissioners. 'Thalatta' celebrated her 90th year in 1996 and has an exemplary safety record built up by the late John Kemp and Jane Benham M.B.E. who were amongst the originators of the Trust. This Trust is currently run by a body of four appointed trustees. These trustees are supported by an appeal committee of two, a booking secretary and a crew of three responsible for the safe operation of the Barge.

All staff, whether working in a voluntary or paid capacity, are committed to maintaining the high reputation of the Trust to the benefit of young people from all sectors of the Community.
